Couple weeks ago, I had one a scary one. I popped for an Indian air after spinning the road gap, but went too fast. I tried to recover but was already leaning forward with my feet off. Over shooting & nose heavy, I thought I could ride it out, but nope—went 50’ to my shoulder, head and tangled my leg in my bike.
After spending the night in the hospital, and having most of my body x-rayed, miraculously I didn’t break anything. I did, however, tear a muscle in my calf, sore head, banged up shoulder, sprained wrist, fingers, and a lot of road rash.
It’s been just over two weeks I’m out of the woods now and walking around with no limp. Massive thank you to @monicafalcos for taking care of me โค๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ผโ๏ธ
Also, kudos @girocycling. The helmet broke, did its job and no concussion symptoms. Not sponsored, I bought this helmet, and will be buying another one.
Hoping to be back riding by my event ๐ค

I’ve spent most of my life chasing the next bike project, contest, film, build, or deadline…always moving ๐๐
Somewhere in all that, I kinda let the slower moments slip by me.
Lately, I’ve realized how important it is to step away from the noise once in a while. Even one night camping with good people, airplanes, campfires, no schedule, and no phone does more for my head than I used to admit ๐๏ธ
Ironically, every time I slow down and reset a bit, I come back more motivated for riding, work, filming, and life in general.
Still figuring out the balance, but weekends like this remind me why it matters.
Any recommendations on camping spots this summer?
Sad day for Canada & therefore the world โ๏ธ๐๏ธ๐จ๐ฆ
After 55 years of operation, the @cfsnowbirds are being retired at the end of this year, and Canada will be without an aerial demonstration team until the early 2030s.
The Snowbirds are iconic Canadian jets, and were a huge part of what drew me into aviation. I was lucky enough to be welcomed onto the Comox Air Force base for an up close photoshoot with my custom painted Snowbirds bike, along with the VIP treatment at the @abbyairshow meeting the crew who make this possible. Makes me proud to be Canadian. ๐จ๐ฆ
With the large expense & aging fleet, retirement came early. Looking forward to what’s next for Canada โ๏ธ
Blue skies & tailwinds, RIP Granddad ๐๏ธ
You gave me the aviation bug when I was 3—captivated by stories of you flying all over North America in your 177 Cardinal RG, hauling clients between meetings in “VFR” ๐ while helping build Zellers across Canada. You came from absolute dirt poor Saskatchewan to giving your family their first small airplane rides, including me. See you up there โ๏ธโค๏ธ๐ฉน
I just installed a STOL kit on my Cessna 170b. A STOL kit (Short Takeoff & Landing) is a leading edge aluminum cuff extension which increases my wing’s total surface area, generating more lift, and allowing my plane to fly slower without stalling. It also significantly decreases take off and landing distances, increases glide ratio, and makes my plane more backcountry capable for short strips.
I also installed an aileron gap seal. This fills the gaps behind the trailing edge of my wing and aileron, allowing for smoother airflow over the control surfaces. Aka, better handling.
Surprisingly, it’s a massive job consisting of about 1000 rivets and 70 hours of labor. I can’t wait to fly it.
I’m planning on painting the raw aluminum cuff, and I’m leaning towards navy blue to match the rest of the bird. What do you think?
The year is 2013. I’m rocking my @Pinkbike shirt at Christmas—acne, nerdy face, and all.
I was in university, doing a marketing & communications internship at the Pinkbike Chilliwack office. Officially, I was “learning marketing,” but most of my time was spent cutting stickers…for free bike parts. Classic day 1 Pinkbike ride-or-die mentality doing it for #exposure.
Those were the trenches—reviewing bikes, self filming videos on a pirated version of Premiere on my mini-DV cam, writing articles, riding loaner rides, learning the grind. Every sticker, every late-night review, every video shaped the rider and producer I am today.
Big shoutout to the Pinkbike OGs @tylerjemaine @killed_by_death @kburkat @radekburkat who took a chance on a nerdy kid and showed me the ropes—I wouldn’t be here without you.

The Stawamus Chief is 2300’ of granitic rock, born from ancient magma, miles under the ground. It was pushed up, polished by ice age glaciers, then left standing after everything softer eroded away. Can you tell my dad is a geologist?
The Chief earns its name from this unique perspective. And I can attest—easier than pedaling up #squamish #aviation #explorebc

I volunteered with @pilotstotherescue to fly 40 cats & 5 dogs on a rescue mission from being euthanized in Georgia all the way to Massachusetts—giving them a second chance at life ๐ฃ
Huge thanks to the volunteers, fosters & everyone making @pilotstotherescue possible. A cause which means a lot to me ๐ซถ๐ป๐พ
